Dear Bayside Bride,
I’ve heard a lot about wearing false eyelashes for weddings and I’m interested in wearing them for my own wedding. I know there are lots of different types of lashes but I don’t know which would be best for my wedding! Can you tell me a little more about the different kinds of lashes out there?

If you are looking to create a sexy, a dramatic, or a glamorous eye, false eyelashes are the way to do it!
During a makeup consultation, there are some key words to listen for in regards to false eyelashes: Individual, Strip, NovaLash, Xtreme Lash or Eye Lash Extensions.
Individual Lashes
Individual lashes are applied to your own natural lashes to help create a fuller, more natural look. These lashes are applied to the base of your natural eyelashes with special adhesive. They can either can be added to just the outer corners of each eye or spread among they eyes.
There are two varieties of individual lashes: regular and cluster. They typically only come in brown and black shades but they are available in short, medium and long lengths to help customize the look of individual lashes. Individual lashes
can last up to three days after the initial application depending on how aggressive makeup removal is.
Strip Lashes
Strip lashes come in pairs and are applied to the eyelid — just above the natural lash line. Strip lashes come in a wide variety of lengths, styles, colors, and thicknesses. Because of the wide variety of strip lashes, you, or your makeup artist, may need to trim the lashes in order for the lashes to fit perfectly to the shape of your eye.
It is recommended that you do not sleep in strip lashes and that they be removed at the end of the night.

NovaLash, Xtreme Lash, or Eye Lash Extensions
NovaLash and Xtreme Lash are brands of eyelash extensions. Since these lashes are applied lash by lash with a medical grade adhesive, they are semi permanent. As your natural lashes grow, so do the eyelash extensions and you won’t need to use mascara.
Because of this, you will need to have the lashes filled in periodically to keep your lashes looking longer and fuller. The initial application process can take up to two hours and when applied properly will not harm your natural lashes.
Whether you are going for a natural look or a more dramatic look, there are false eye lashes for everyone. Don’t be afraid, they really do make a difference!
