Dear Bayside Bride,
I’m not sure whether I should hire a professional makeup artist for my wedding day. Can you help me out with some reasons why it would be beneficial?

Brides in the early stages of planning their wedding face many decisions regarding which services to include in planning their celebration. One decision that will ensure a beautiful beginning to their wedding day is to hire a professional makeup artist for themselves and their bridal party.
Professionally applied makeup is one service that completes the look brides desire and guarantees that they are camera ready. Skilled artists are trained in understanding the effects that various types of lighting have on photos. We are trained in selecting appropriate products and in application techniques that work best in the variety of settings that your photographer and videographer will be shooting in. Your photos will last a lifetime but you only have one chance to enhance your best features and camouflage uneven skin tones and blemishes. Additionally, a professional application will last all day.
Scheduling a trial session prior to your wedding day allows you to perfect the look that you are imagining for your wedding day ahead of time. After a brief consultation, the makeup artist will interpret your preferences and work to provide the results that you desire. We want this to be a relaxing and pleasurable experience for our brides and their wedding parties.
The number one thing that Lindsay consistently recommends to all brides is the application of false eyelashes. As professionals, we are trained to apply the lashes safely, correctly, and naturally. The type of lashes that you choose to wear should be a priority. Lindsay suggests avoiding the frustration and risks involved with purchasing lashes and attempting to apply them on your own.
Treat your decision in selecting a makeup artist with the same care that you choose other wedding professionals. Ask to see a portfolio or photos of previous bridal parties, inquire about the artist’s experience and expertise in bridal makeup, and select an onsite service that will travel to accommodate you in the relaxing atmosphere of your home or hotel.

Oh man, this is so dead-on. The last thing I would have wanted to panic about on the wedding of my morning was not being able to make my falsies look authentic. I asked me cousin to do everyone’s make-up because she was professionally trained, but if I hadn’t had her as a resource I would have definitely hired an outsider. I know how stressed I get in the morning before work when my liquid eyeliner isn’t going on properly- your wedding morning is 300X more stressful. And a good make-up job comes across in photos!
Great Advice Lindsay!
