We love getting a behind the scenes glimpse into how wedding invitations go from concept to creation – it’s a fantastic process that really makes each couple’s wedding unique! It’s always fun working with clients who have a clear vision in their head of what they are interested in for their invitations. That was exactly the case with Elizabeth and Andrew. They knew it was very important to incorporate beachy elements into their invitation since they were getting married in Lewes, Delaware. After talking with them, I found out they have a rather iconic light house on the island. I Googled for some images and found one that I used as inspiration and created an artistic version to be used on the invitation. In speaking with Elizabeth and Andrew, we decided this was a perfect addition, and a great way to really personalize their invitation.

Once the invitation was finalized, the rest of the invitation set was complete. I like to make sure all the details are worked out on the most special piece and then take that design and break it apart and use it on the accompany cards. I never like the other cards to feel more special than the invitation, but I do like them to all coordinate and have a nice, cohesive look. I was also really excited that Elizabeth and Andrew wanted a double sided invitation. It’s so much nicer than having a blank back.

In a consultation when I learn about the couple, their wedding day and their vision, it’s always so fun to hear what they have in mind and how I can take their ideas and turn them into something more elegant, edgy or just plain appropriate for a wedding invitation. My favorite part of a consultation is when someone says “I wish we could put a lighthouse on the invitation” and it gets my wheels spinning and I say “why not!” Those are the elements that truly make an invitation unique and personal to each individual couple and their wedding.
