We are incredibly excited to be attending our first Wedding Show this spring at the highly anticipated, Borrowed Event, A Wedding Show for the Creative I Do. Borrowed is being held on: Sunday, April 1, 2012 from 1-5pm at the American Visionary Arts Museum in Baltimore, Maryland!

We were also featured on the Borrowed Event Blog a few weeks ago, which was a really fun experience for us! It was the first time that we had to respond in an interview fashion to another bloggers questions and we really loved it… You might be surprised by some of our answers – others are quite predictable! Haha!

Our December vendor of the month is very near and dear to our hearts. Melissa and Sarah of Intrigue Design & Decor were among the first to support us when we decided to launch Bayside Bride. They provided beautiful flowers for our very first styled shoot and they’ve supported us throughout this entire blog process. I’m pretty sure my jaw hit the floor when Melissa handed me the bouquet she had created for our Nautical shoot. I couldn’t believe something so beautiful could be created from scraps she’d found on the floor let alone that she had made it for us! We are so thankful for everything they’ve done for us and their talent continues to amaze us.

I spent some time with the girls a few weeks ago and caught them in action as they put a few centerpieces together for an event. It’s so clear that these ladies not only love what they do, they have a ton of fun doing it!

How did you get into the wedding industry and how did you start Intrigue?
Sarah started in the industry as a wedding planner.  She began specializing in wedding design, when she saw a need for a high end floral design firm in the Annapolis area.  Once taking on Intrigue Sarah set out to find a floral designer who shared her passion and ingenuity.  She hired Melissa Huston, an award winning designer, who also has a corporate planning and a theater background.

What makes Intrigue different than other florists?
Intrigue specializes in weddings and events, and we pride ourselves on being innovative and trendy.  Instead of offering books for clients to pick out standard bouquets and centerpieces, we take the extra time to get to know our client’s personality and understand their vision for the wedding day.  We believe the décor should be a reflection of the couple and highlight the best features of your venue.  Our design service goes beyond flowers.  We also offer lighting, draping, linens, chargers and vendor suggestions to give your wedding a polished look.

What is your favorite part of creating flowers for weddings? 
We love having the ability of taking a bride’s dream and bringing it to life.  The bridal bouquet is the most important accessory to every wedding dress.  Every bridal bouquet is tweaked and customized to every girl – no two are ever exactly alike.  The best part of our job is the look on the bride’s face when we present her bouquet.

What is your favorite floral trend?
Our favorite trend is floral education and the open sharing of ideas and images.  Blogs have really helped to educate brides and encourage them to think outside of the box.  Centerpieces have clever accents, and new elements. This is a trend that we see growing as blogs continue to inspire future brides.

Transportation can often be one of the last things people think about when planning their wedding, but hiring the right limo company can make all the difference on your wedding day. That’s one of the reasons why we’re so excited to announce Limousines Inc. as our September vendor of the month!
